Allergy Shots
Allergy shots have been given now for over 100 years. It’s an effective way to reduce or eliminate all together your allergy symptoms. This method of treatment requires both a large time commitment and compliance. Allergy shots require you to present to your doctor’s office at least twice per week during the initial build-up phase of the program and will take approximately 30-40 minutes per visit. Subsequent visits will vary but in general you will return to the doctor’s office 1-2 times per month. Allergy shots can also be formulated and self-injected at home.
Allergy Drops
Allergy drops have been administered for over 60 years now and, like allergy shots, if compliance is met the allergy drops are very effective. The drops are administered under the tongue while at home, work or while on vacation and only take a couple of minutes to complete per day. The subsequent follow-up visits are only once every five months. Most patients feel the therapeutic benefit of the drops within three months of starting this type of immunotherapy treatment. Allergy drops are ideal for children with allergies because there are no needles and no pills to swallow.
